30-Day Song Challenge…
Day 14: A song that no one would expect you to love…
I love classical music from ballets and loves songs in French as well as French rap. I have no fucking clue as to why, I just do.
First up for French Rap, is Mc Solaar- La Belle et le Bad Boy. I have a pretty good idea of what he is singing about and I don’t know why but between his voice, the violins and the sick beat I can’t not have this on my iPod. Now this isn’t the best sounding video, but this girl (whom I assume is named Kat) is a very groovy dancer and in my head, this is how I move to this song.
Now on the top of my list of sappy French loves songs is Cindy Daniel- Sous Une Pluie D’ÉTOILES. I honestly only know what the hell she is saying because I looked up the translation on the almighty internets. So yeah, love it, if it were in English I’d probably, think is was trite and stupid, but who am I kidding this song would not in all likelihood make it over here in any incarnation. I would apologize for that sounding bitch except; one I don’t care, and two, I’m right.
Then there is my supreme favorite ballet is Cinderella with Giselle and Sleeping Beauty a close second. Now don’t get it twisted, just Nutcracker and Swan Lake are classics and lovely and beloved the world over, yadda yadda yadda. I mean honestly to people not realize how many other ballets are out there, and the different flavors of music there are for these shows?
BAH!!! Anyway, the video I’m posting for this is from the Birmingham Royal Ballet. 2011 was there 20th anniversary and this beautifully reworked Cinderella using the amazing music of Sergei Prokofiev. You will probably be suddenly familiar with his music once the Royal Waltz starts. Watch it all, FIND time damn it.
